The ideas competition
The ideas competition has closed. You can see all the ideas that were submitted and maybe be inspired to develop a mashup or app to bring the idea to life. Thanks to all the entrants. We’ll be announcing the winner of the $1000 prize mid May.
Now it’s time to enter the main Libraryhack competition a mix, mash and win!
Ideas Competition Prizes:
$1000 for the best idea for a mashup or application
Who can enter?
To be eligible for prizes entrants must be:
- Individuals who are Australian or New Zealand citizens or residents
- Teams of individuals where at least one member of the team is an Australian or New Zealand citizen or resident
- Organisations with a current Australian Business Number or a wich are a registered company in New Zealand
Competition judges and their immediate families and members of the NSLA Libraryhack project group are not eligible for prizes.
Winners
- The winners will be notified by email on [date in mid May]
- Winners will be announced publicly on the Libraryhack website on [date in mid May]
The Rules
Entries
- Entries will be accepted from 9 am AEST on Feb 8 2011 to 5 pm AEST on April 30 2011.
- Entries must be submitted by completing the online entry form. Submit your entry.
- Entries will be published on the Libraryhack website as they are received throughout the competition period.
- There is no limit to the number of entries you can submit.
- When you submit an idea you give permission for anyone else to freely develop the idea into an application or mashup as part of the Libraryhack competition.
- Entries that do not comply with the competition rules will not be considered.
Data
All entries in the ideas category must suggest using at least 1 data set or content from at least 1 data set from one of the participating libraries. The datasets will be available for the libraryhack competition on http://data.gov.au and http://www.data.govt.nz/. This data can be combined with any other publicly available datasets as long as their licensing terms are consistent with the rules of the Libraryhack competition.
Judging criteria
Use of the data/digital content: is this a smart and creative idea for the use of the source material?
Originality: What is new or improved about this idea for an applications/mashup/interpretation?
Usefulness: What need does this idea for an application/mashup/interpretation serve?
